Shoulder Pain Management

Sarasota Shoulder Pain Management

Chiropractic Treatment & Holistic Health Care

The shoulders are an important part of the body's mobility, and experiencing pain, tightness or discomfort in one or both shoulders can limit a person's ability to perform normal, day-to-day tasks. Here at Sarasota Chiropractic, Physical Therapy & Massage, our chiropractor, Dr. Abe Kozma, is trained and experienced in treating and rehabilitating shoulder injuries. Our goal is for our patients to make complete recoveries as quickly as possible using natural, non-invasive methods.>

Symptoms of shoulder injuries can range from minor to severe. Some injuries are limited to minor inflammation or irritation, which may cause soreness or a slight ache when performing certain activities or motions. Other injuries and symptoms are more severe, which may cause patients resort to over-the-counter pain relief medications. At our office, we assess and treat all types of shoulder injuries.

Some of the most common shoulder injuries involve the rotator cuff -- the part of the shoulder that contains tendons that support the arm in the shoulder joint. No other joint in the body provides greater mobility and flexibility than one in the shoulder. However, an injury can severely limit this motion range. Repetitive motion, falls and heavy lifting can all damage the rotator cuff, causing irritation to the tendons and muscles, or even tearing them. At our office, we treat rotator cuff injuries with exercise to promote healing without invasive surgical procedures.

Another common shoulder injury is a torn labrum. The labrum is made of thick cartilage that supports arm movement within the shoulder socket. Although the tissue is strong, it is susceptible to injury due to overuse or impact. Dr. Kozma assists patients who suffer from a torn labrum using a combination of treatment options, including physiotherapy. We can also help alleviate the aching sensation a torn labrum can cause using acupuncture and massage therapy.

Post-Surgery Rehabilitation in Sarasota, FL

Although we attempt to treat shoulder pain and injuries naturally and non-invasively, some shoulder injuries do require medical intervention to repair damaged tissues. Shoulder surgery patients often require post-surgery rehabilitation to help with pain and restore movement and flexibility to the shoulder joints, muscles and tendons.

At our Sarasota chiropractic office, we treat shoulder surgery patients slowly, but effectively. Our methods foster healing within the shoulder, while also challenging muscles and ligaments using a variety of targeted exercises and movements. A combination of exercise therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture and massage can alleviate pain, reduce swelling and inflammation, and improve overall motion range capabilities. Though recovery from shoulder surgery does not occur overnight, we do work hard to help our patients return to a normal way of life as soon as possible.

If you or someone you know has experienced a shoulder injury, or if you are recovering from a shoulder surgery, contact our office today. We can evaluate your condition and discuss your options for natural pain relief and treatment. We look forward to treating you!
